MUSEUM ON THE MOVE

CURRENT EXHIBIT

The current exhibit is “Unmasking Tradition:  Mardi Gras in Louisiana.” The exhibit interprets the changes to traditional and differences of Mardi Gras celebrations in Louisiana as part of one dynamic and interconnected story. The class used examples from New Orleans’ Krewe of Rex to represent Parade style Mardi Gras celebrations, and Mamou’s Courier de Mardi Gras to represent Cajun Country celebrations. To demonstrate the changes within Mardi Gras celebrations, the exhibit provides information about the development of other parades formed in reaction to social barriers and community events.
